I - Evolution III - The Phoenecians

Neolithic people probably migrating from the Iberian Peninsula left traces on the Pitiusas Islands around 5000BC. Life was difficult, hardly any fauna to be hunted, only sea mammals fish and birds. These people bring goats and sheep with them. You can see fish and meat smoking and tanning of animal hides.

At the end of the Copper Age around 1800 BC a new population arrives. They live in caves and huts and practice a basic agriculture.

Above: A re-construction of Ca Na Nostra and the plan of a burial site can be seen. Cave such as Es Cuieram, Cova Xives and Es Rivets are inhabited and people start building better houses on strategic positions like in Sa Cala. Talayotic culture is flourishing.

Below: Bone buttons, needles, harpoons and stone weapons and basic earthenware.
