Here we see a local market situated near a defence tower. Peace is fragile as the Pitiusas islands are subject to piracy from North African Moors and other Mediterranean invaders.
In the country, a family prepares garlic strings and dries figs, cutting them in half and adding frigola. Peasants are working in the fields, one blowing a conch shell. A ginette, a small, local predator watches a robin and a wagtail with interest.
Below: Big cooking pots on the fire, a wine barrel and a vessel for treading on the grapes, a small press, a jug, a yoke and a gold coin.
