The Greeks also traded with Ibiza and Formentera which they named 'the Pitiusas' because of the amount of pine trees they found here. Legend has it that Ulysses sailed near Es Vedra, tied to his mast not to fall prey to the charms of the singing Sirens. The Greeks exchange wine and bronze weapons for salt, salted fish and fresh vegetables.

The islanders are already famous slingers. They use the sling (basetja) for hunting and in war.
